Android Smartphones from Samsung
Following the success of their flagship Android phone, the Galaxy S, which sported a four inch Super AMOLED display, an ARM Cortex A8 1.0GHz processor, a whopping 16gb internal storage, and a 5 megapixel camera, Samsung has unveiled it’s latest follow up to the Galaxy Family, the Samsung Galaxy U. Specs on the Samsung Galaxy U are still great even with the smaller screen at 3.7 inches compared to 4 inches on the Galaxy S, as well as only 8gb of internal storage from 16gb, with everything still remaining mostly the same.
For a potentially cheaper cost, the Galaxy U will still be able to offer many of the same beefy specs that have come to be expected of the Galaxy name, even if the Galaxy S is still expected to remain Samsung’s flagship Android phone. It is still recognizable as a Galaxy phone and can even be confused for an iPhone at a distance with it curved edges and the optical trackpad that is placed right under the screen, just like the home button that is featured on an iPhone except with much more functionality.
The Touchwiz interface is different now, with the app launcher which scrolls from left to right, compared with earlier Samsung touchscreen phones that scrolled from top to bottom. This still remains the same on the Galaxy U that utilizes the same Touchwiz 3.0 user interface. It is considered one of the best Android smart-phones today even if the new version of the Touchwiz interface can be a bit of an acquired taste.
The camera is only rated at 5 megapixels bu actually performs quite admirably with an auto-focus lens whose control is improved when touching a subject on the view screen that you want to focus on. Pictures that are taken using the Galaxy U’s camera are clean and sharp, with colors that are well-saturated even in low-light and night environments.
It is no surprise that Samsung Android Smartphones are doing so well, with their impressive phone specs and aggressive marketing campaigns. If Smasung is able to offer the Galaxy U across virtually every carrier in the U.S. just as it did with the Galaxy S, then it won’t be long until it enjoys the same success, matching the milestone one million units sold in the U.S. market. Android phones are already in healthy competition with the iPhone 4 in South Korea and are expected to compete for the same smartphone markets in the U.S. With regards to phones that run the most updated versions of Android there may be a lot of competition, however Samsung is positioning itself at the top of the hill.
